GIVERNY |
Impressionism was born in Normandy with Claude Monet and grew up in Paris in the 1860’s. Fascinated by the mobility of lights and colors according to time and weather, Monet devoted his whole life to the representation of his “impressions” on a canvas.
His numerous trips to Normandy took him to the charming little village of Giverny where he bought a house and moved with his large family.
Monet, who was also a true botanist, transformed the backyard into an amazing garden where he could devote his time to his passion. By painting the same scene at different times of day, in different seasons or under different skies, he could best understand the color effects of the changing light in his subjects.
Your tour will take you to his famous water garden and its waterlilies pond and to the charming "Clos Normand” or flower garden. His house where he loved to receive a small number of close friends like Georges Clemenceau has been restored and is now open to the public.
Giverny. visiting the house of this incredible painter is an absolute must for lovers of gardens, flowers and impressionist paintings.
