The Farewell Court in front of the Horseshoe Staircase reminds us of the last days of Emperor Napoleon 1st in France. |
The well stocked in game forest was one of the first reasons to the presence of the kings in Fontainebleau. A pretty road through the forest brings us to the little Barbizon village where Corot, Millet and Theodore Rousseau left their prints.
Fontainebleau in the morning, Barbizon around lunch, several good places, and Vaux le Vicomte in the afternoon will make a nice day of excursion from Paris through the forest and history.
